Congratulations to Lisa R., the lucky winner of PMTA’s Holiday Tree Raffle. Lisa’s daughter is a student of Barb Tilson. We were able to raise a little over $200 from this event (approximately enough to fund one Senior award). Needless to say, there is still much work to be done, but we are headed in the right direction. Many, many thanks to those people who purchased raffle tickets. Your support is deeply appreciated.

Please help us raise money for a very worthy cause.

"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy." -- Ludwig van Beethoven

*PMTA (Phoenix Music Teachers Association) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been operating in Arizona since 1928. We are affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA). Our purpose is to advance music education by conducting programs and events that build a vital musical culture and community. We promote the involvement of persons of all ages in learning music and strive to ensure that every student has access to a balanced, comprehensive and high quality program of music education.

"Music cleanses the understanding; inspires it, and lifts it into a realm which it would not reach if it were left to itself." -- H. Ward Beecher

The PMTA Scholarship Fund makes it possible to further this cause by offering financial awards that recognize a student’s hard work and achievements in music. We encourage their musical growth through scholarships to summer music camps. Through our Senior Awards Program, we honor their dedication and commitment to music study. In the past we have offered additional need based scholarships and grants as well as donated to worthy causes such as Rosie’s House. However, we have been forced to drop or substantially modify many of our scholarship programs due to the recent economic downturn which led to the loss of several major donors. Unfortunately it comes at a time when they are needed most.

"In music one must think with the heart and feel with the brain." -- George Szell

Just imagine the achievements of a generation that “thinks with the heart and feels with the brain.” We hope you will join in our effort to build an enlightened, vital musical culture and community and deeply appreciate any amount you can offer.

Please know that PMTA is a 100% lay organization so every penny of every dollar you donate goes directly to the students.
