Emily Helvey has taught piano for over ten
years, and enjoys teaching all ages and levels.
She aspires to instill in each student a
lifelong love and appreciation of music and the
skills to become an independent learner.
Dr. Helvey earned the doctoral degree in
collaborative piano at ASU and holds degrees in
piano performance from UCLA and Biola
University, a Christian university in the Los
Angeles area. She has performed extensively both
collaboratively and as a soloist, and has served
as the staff pianist at Biola University and Cal
State Fullerton, as well as at numerous churches
in California and Arizona.
Dr. Helvey incorporates theory, sight-reading,
and music history into lessons, and takes an
individual approach to each student, based on
musical and personal goals.
