Thank you for your interest in Phoenix Music Teachers Association! PMTA membership offers many benefits, such as educational meetings, a teacher referral service, and many student opportunities. PMTA is affiliated with Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA). Membership is for all 3 associations.

MTNA provides a number of services for members and nonmembers alike. From a Professional Support Line to a database of intermediate chamber music repertoire to mailing list rentals, MTNA offers pertinent, important information and programs, serving as a “clearinghouse” for busy professionals. ASMTA is the state division of MTNA and organizes the Arizona Study Program, in addition to sponsoring a state-wide yearly conference and student competition. PMTA is a district of ASMTA, offering its own unique programs. Each group provides excellent resources for the music teacher and student alike.

Our Mission

PMTA (Phoenix Music Teachers Association) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been operating in Arizona since 1928. We are affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA).

Our purpose is to advance music education by conducting programs and events that build a vital musical culture and community. We promote the involvement of persons of all ages in learning music and strive to ensure that every student has access to a balanced, comprehensive and high quality program of music education.
