Scholarship Fund

The PMTA Scholarship Fund makes it possible to further the mission of our organization by offering financial awards that recognize a student’s hard work and achievements in music:

  • We encourage their musical growth through scholarships to summer music camps.
  • Through our senior awards program, we honor their dedication and commitment to music study.
  • Awards are also given to winners of certain PMTA-sponsored performance events.

Through our teacher membership/general grants we support and encourage our teachers in their efforts to improve their education and studios.

Our Mission

PMTA (Phoenix Music Teachers Association) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been operating in Arizona since 1928. We are affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and the Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA).

Our purpose is to advance music education by conducting programs and events that build a vital musical culture and community. We promote the involvement of persons of all ages in learning music and strive to ensure that every student has access to a balanced, comprehensive and high quality program of music education.

“Thank you very much for the scholarship. Attending music camp is expensive, and the money is greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to my time at NAU. Thank you once again!” Sincerely, Justin Hack

2014 Scholarship Fund Benefit Concert

Let’s Go to the Movies! With Pops Pianist Deborah Offenhauser!

Deborah Offenhauser generously donated a wonderful Saturday afternoon concert, showcasing a dynamic mix of popular pianists with tributes to Liberace, Joanne Castle, Roger Williams, Van Cliburn, Victor Borge, and more! Deborah’s musical performance was laced with “down home” stories and jokes, and the concert was a huge success! It raised over $2,000 for the Phoenix Music Teachers Association’s Scholarship Fund.

“Here is a video of Rachel performing Venetian Boat Song by Mendelssohn at the NAU Curry Summer Music Camp. Thank you, PMTA, for helping her attend the camp. She learned a lot.” Sincerely, Stephanie Core
