Charlotte Gordon, M. Ed

Piano, Voice, Accompanying | Online & In-Studio Instruction

Weekly private lessons are offered for all ages and skill levels, from age 6 to adulthood, beginner to advanced. All students are encouraged to attain a high degree of musical literacy and artistry. Lessons are structured to allow students to move at their own pace while still being challenged toward greater advancement. Musicality, technique, and performance skills are highly emphasized within the studio. Additionally, skills are taught that will enable the student to play any genre of music desired. For students of school age, various performance opportunities are also offered. Charlotte teaches General Music and Choir at a charter school in Surprise, accompanies students and adults for festivals and auditions, and performs in several variety bands in the Phoenix area. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Voice and a Master's degree in Secondary/Music Education from Grand Canyon University and has been a piano and voice instructor since 1990 in Arizona. Charlotte is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Music Educator's National Conference, and the American Choral Directors Association. Charlotte has also performed on local artists' CDs and videos and has recorded radio voice-overs for local and national commercials.

Testimonials

"I have been taking voice lessons for Charlotte for almost one year. I can't begin to express how much my voice has grown over this period of time. I perform with a group called the Upscale Singers out of Carefree and in the past I have always done a few, very low alto solos. But I am happy to say I performed three large mezzo solos in our spring show, two from Les Miserables. In the past I wouldn't even have tried out for these pieces. Charlotte taught me so much and my confidence has grown tremendously. My increased confidence and skills have encouraged other members in my group to take voice lessons as well. I could go on and on, Charlotte is a great teacher!" ~ Barb, adult student

"Over the past 7 years Charlotte Gordon has exclusively been the piano teacher of choice for our two daughters, Sarah and Emily. Charlotte has never wavered in her drive to challenge our girls in every facet of piano playing, including understanding the fundamentals, music theory, scales, and performance [techniques]. Each year Charlotte has organized recitals at a nearby Assisted Living Home and [offered] additional opportunities for her students to perform in public settings such as the "Music in the Mall" show, which by the way Emily tells me is her favorite! We are very fortunate to have found Charlotte and are thankful she has provided a comfortable learning environment for our girls and for the joy our entire family has experienced listening to them play! We are firm believers that music enriches the lives of those involved and Charlotte has been a vital part of their success." ~ Mark and Sue, parents

"I have been going to Mrs. Charlotte Gordon's circa a year. Within that seemingly short amount of time...I feel I have learned a great deal. [For example] I have discovered an exceeding amount of vocal techniques never mentioned to me before. Mrs. Gordon explains things in a precise, yet relaxed manner. This especially goes for those vocal techniques. She helps me better visualize and understand what it is I'm trying to do internally. Mrs. Gordon goes the extra mile to make sure I understand exactly what I need to be doing. It not only creates a better sound, but does a lot of good for my voice. Also, I feel somehow she has managed to help piano 'click' with me more than it already has. I am understanding rhythmic concepts I could not pick up on before and I'm able to put more feeling into each of the pieces. I feel I can truly be relaxed in her studio, which in turn helps me feel all the more comfortable, cool and confident as I sing and play. Mrs. Gordon is an outstanding teacher, with great personality and great skill." ~ Alexas, high school student
